NSUKKA — A socio-political group, the Nsukka Youth Congress, has urged a chieftain of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Enugu State, Hillary Eze Kenechukwu, to contest elective office, citing his record in youth development and grassroots engagement.

In a statement, the group said the Enugu North Senatorial Zone was at a critical juncture requiring “visionary and people-centred leadership” to drive transformation across the area.

Speaking on behalf of the Congress, Acting President, Rotarian Chinedu Ozongwu, described Eze as a committed grassroots mobiliser whose contributions to education and youth empowerment have had far-reaching impact.

According to him, the call for Eze to enter the race was driven by “clear necessity and widespread trust” among young people in the zone.

“Dr. Hillary has proven himself not just as a man of ideas, but as a man of the people. His connection to the grassroots is not political convenience; it reflects his character. His interventions in youth development are practical and measurable,” Ozongwu said.

He noted that the philanthropist had awarded scholarships to indigent students and supported vulnerable families across communities in Enugu State, adding that such efforts had restored hope to many beneficiaries.

Ozongwu stressed that leadership should go beyond political ambition and reflect responsibility and service to the people.

“At this critical time, Enugu North does not need just any politician. It needs a leader with empathy, vision and courage. Dr. Hillary embodies these qualities, and his record speaks of sacrifice and sincerity,” he added.

The Congress also pledged to mobilise support for Eze, expressing readiness to work towards his success if he accepts the call.

“We are ready to stand firmly behind him. We will mobilise and support him because we believe in what he represents — a new order of leadership rooted in integrity and people-oriented development,” Ozongwu said.

The group maintained that the future of Enugu North Senatorial Zone should be shaped by leaders with proven commitment to public welfare, urging Eze to heed the call and offer himself for service.
