The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has taken decisive steps to address the recent deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, ordering a large-scale deployment of security personnel to restore peace and apprehend those responsible.

Strongly condemning the attack, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens, Disu described the incident as tragic and unacceptable.

He extended his condolences to the state government and affected families, assuring them of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice.

Demonstrating direct leadership, the IGP deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to the state to oversee and coordinate the security response.

The move is aimed at strengthening ongoing operations and ensuring a more strategic approach to tackling the crisis.

Under Disu’s directive, additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives have been mobilized to intensify operations across the state.

The IGP emphasized that these efforts will continue until normalcy is fully restored and law and order firmly reestablished.

He also instructed all operational commanders to maintain a high level of visibility in policing and to actively engage with communities, particularly those considered vulnerable, as part of efforts to build trust and prevent further violence.

Calling for public cooperation, the IGP urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, warning against any form of self-help or reprisals. He encouraged citizens to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities.

The statement, issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, underscores the IGP’s hands-on approach and commitment to restoring peace in Plateau State.
