Kaduna — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has formally received the declaration of Yerima Shettima to contest the Kaduna Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Shettima, who announced his ambition at the party secretariat in Kaduna, said his decision was driven by a desire to provide quality and effective representation to the people of the zone.
He stated that his aspiration was not based on mere promises but on a firm commitment to deliver responsible leadership if given the mandate.
“I will not let the party, the state, and Nigeria down if given the opportunity,” he said, expressing confidence that the APC would secure victory by presenting credible candidates.
He also pledged loyalty to the party and prayed for the continued progress of the APC, Kaduna State, and the country.
Shettima commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for what he described as ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria and Kaduna State.
In his response, the Kaduna State APC Secretary, Abubakar Rabiu Abubakar, welcomed the declaration and described Shettima as a strong advocate of youth inclusion in politics.
He noted that the move aligns with the vision of Governor Sani’s administration to provide equal opportunities for all party members.
Abubakar further highlighted what he termed the achievements of the current administration, adding that the party continues to record successes under Governor Sani’s leadership.
According to him, the APC requires dedicated members like Shettima who are actively promoting the party’s ideals across communities.
“The party needs individuals who are working tirelessly to propagate its ideals in every nook and cranny,” he said.
