The Advertisers Association of Nigeria has commended the election of Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Otega Ogra, into the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA).
Ogra, who also serves as Vice President of ADVAN, was elected during the WFA Global Marketer Week held in Stockholm, Sweden, a development the association described as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.
In a statement, ADVAN said the election brings Nigeria into the top decision-making body of the global advertisers’ organisation, reflecting the growing recognition of the country’s advertising ecosystem.
The association noted that the WFA is the foremost global body for advertisers, representing over 150 multinational companies and Fortune 500 brands, as well as national advertiser associations across more than 60 countries.
According to ADVAN, the organisation’s Executive Committee is its highest governance structure, responsible for setting strategic direction on key issues such as media governance, transparency, sustainability, data regulation and platform accountability.
ADVAN added that the newly constituted committee includes senior executives from global brands such as IKEA, Nissan, Diageo, Danone and Tata Group, alongside leaders of major advertiser associations worldwide.
It further stated that Ogra’s emergence comes at a time of rapid transformation in the global advertising landscape, driven by technological disruption, artificial intelligence and evolving digital regulations.
The association stressed that his election underscores the increasing integration of African markets into global advertising governance and highlights the role of emerging economies in shaping international industry standards.
ADVAN reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s advertising sector and ensuring sustained representation of Nigerian professionals at the highest levels of global industry leadership.
