2027: The Best Choice for Ilorin South

2027: The Best Choice for Ilorin South

By Victor Tozor

As the 2027 election cycle approaches, the good people of the Ilorin South Constituency find themselves at a pivotal moment. The demand for leadership has shifted; the “politics of old” is no longer sufficient for a generation defined by digital innovation, economic challenges, and a thirst for sustainable development. When a constituency chooses a representative, it is not merely electing a name, it is choosing a vision, a character, and a proven track record. For the people of Ilorin South, the 2027 Kwara State House of Assembly race presents a clear and compelling choice: Aliu Olamilekan Bello, known widely as Santana AOB. A man who has spent his entire career not chasing power, but delivering empowerment.

A Son of the Soil Who Never Left His People Behind

Aliu Olamilekan Bello is not a stranger arriving with promises at election time. He is a fixture in the community. A man who has been building, mobilising, and uplifting long before any ballot was printed. While many candidates enter the race with promises, Aliu Olamilekan Bello enters with measurable results. As founder of the A.O.B Foundation, he has directly empowered over 5,000 youth, reached more than 150 communities, executed over 45 programs, and mobilised a volunteer army of more than 500 committed citizens. His impact isn’t confined to boardrooms; it is felt on the streets and in the town halls of Kwara State. These are not aspirations. These are results.

His footprints are visible in every ward. From skills acquisition programs equipping young people with digital tools and business setups, to the landmark AOB Quiz and Debate Competition that ignited the intellectual fire of Nigeria’s brightest young minds, Aliu has consistently invested in people before politics.

Technology, Governance, and the Future of Representation

The Architect of Modern Governance. Ilorin South deserves a lawmaker who understands the modern world. Aliu brings to the table an extraordinary rare blend of an educational foundation trained in Computer Science, Finance, Digital Strategy, and Aerospace Engineering at the prestigious Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). He holds professional certifications in Project Management (PMP), CompTIA Networking, CompTIA Security+, UI/UX Design, and Public Speaking, a rare depth of knowledge for a legislative candidate. This technical foundation is critical in an era where governance is increasingly driven by data and technology.

His professional journey further cements his readiness. As Executive Assistant to the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Digital Communications, he worked at the heart of Nigeria’s presidential communications apparatus, gaining firsthand experience in governance, policy, and national-level strategy. This provided him with a front-row seat to the inner workings of the Nigerian State House. Before that, he served at the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), understanding the engine room of Nigeria’s power sector, which is a critical issue for every household in Ilorin South.

Empowerment Is Not a Slogan — It Is His Signature

The campaign banner says “Support Mr. Empowerment” and that title was not invented by a marketing team. It was earned on the ground. Through the Seyi Tinubu Citizens Cup, conducted by his foundation, Aliu turned a grassroots football tournament into a life-changing launchpad with young talent like David Ebube earning trials at Turkish professional club Kayserispor. That is what genuine empowerment looks like: not a handout, but a hand up to the global stage.

As Head of Empowerment at the Youth Creative Consortium (YCC), an African Union-sponsored body and as Kwara State Coordinator, Aliu has already been doing the legislative groundwork: convening stakeholders, designing programs, and connecting young people to opportunity at a regional level.

A Voice That Has Already Reached the Highest Offices

Good legislators must be able to speak to power and be heard. Aliu has demonstrated this capacity repeatedly. He has held productive engagements with the Governor of Kwara State, H.E. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, briefing him on youth development initiatives. He has sat with the Inspector-General of Police on community-security relations. He has held strategic dialogue with Barr. Seyi Tinubu on national youth development. These are not photo opportunities, they are evidence of a man who can walk into any room and advocate effectively for his constituency.

Media, Communication, and Accountability

A lawmaker must be able to communicate to explain policy, hold the executive accountable, and keep constituents informed. Aliu is the founder and CEO of Narrative Africa, a think tank, media and communications company, and host of the Breaking Shackles Podcast. He understands narrative, public discourse, and the power of information. As Head of Media Operations at The People’s Roundtable, he has been facilitating exactly the kind of transparent, multi-stakeholder dialogue that democracy requires.

The Verdict

Ilorin South does not need a politician learning on the job. It needs a tested, proven, multidisciplinary leader who has already demonstrated he will show up not for the cameras, but for the community. Aliu Olamilekan Bello has empowered youth when it was not election season. He has built platforms when there was no political reward. He has engaged governance at the highest levels while keeping his roots firmly planted in the grassroots. In 2027, the choice is clear for the Ilorin South Constituency for the Kwara State House of Assembly. Mr Empowerment, Aliu Olamilekan Bello, Santana AOB.

The future of Ilorin South deserves a man who has already been building it.
