Soludo appoints Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, as Anambra Attorney General

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN) as the new Attorney General of Anambra State.

The appointment was announced on March 23, 2026.

A native of Nsugbe in Anambra East Local Government Area, Nweke is a distinguished legal practitioner, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and Chartered Arbitrator. He obtained his law degree from the University of Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2009.

His career includes notable milestones, rising to the position of Managing Solicitor at Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN & Co., and earning global certifications from the University of Oxford and Harvard University. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

In 2024, he was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria at the age of 39, making him one of the youngest in the country and the youngest from Anambra State.

Prior to his appointment, Nweke served as Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the governor.

His emergence also marks the first time in two decades that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria will serve as Attorney General in Anambra State.
