The Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, on Monday swore in the Secretary to the Local Government, supervisors and special advisers, while also presenting official vehicles to councillors as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery at the grassroots.
The ceremony, held at the council hall in Apapa-Iganmu, brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, party faithful, council staff and residents of the area.
Speaking during the event, Saliu said the appointments and presentation of vehicles underscore the council administration’s commitment to effective governance, accountability and grassroots development.
According to him, the newly appointed Secretary to the Local Government and supervisors were carefully selected based on competence, dedication and commitment to public service.
He charged them to see their appointments as a call to serve the people with diligence, transparency and integrity.
“Your appointment is not merely a position of honour but a call to serve the people diligently, transparently and with integrity,” he said.
Saliu urged the newly sworn-in officials to work closely with the leadership of the council in formulating and implementing policies that would positively impact residents of the council area.
“As members of the Executive team, you are expected to work harmoniously with the council leadership to formulate and implement policies that will positively impact the lives of our people,” he added.
The chairman also explained that the official vehicles presented to councillors were meant to improve their efficiency in carrying out legislative and oversight responsibilities at the ward level.
He noted that councillors play a critical role in representing the needs and aspirations of their communities within the council.
“To our councillors, the presentation of official vehicles today is intended to enhance your efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out your legislative and oversight functions,” he said.
Saliu stressed that the success of the administration would depend on teamwork, unity of purpose and commitment to the welfare of residents.
He reiterated the council’s resolve to deliver democratic dividends through improved infrastructure, enhanced social services, youth empowerment initiatives and sustainable community development programmes.
The chairman also expressed appreciation to party leaders, community stakeholders and residents of Apapa-Iganmu for their support, noting that their trust would continue to inspire the administration to pursue transparent governance and inclusive development.
He further urged the newly sworn-in officials to discharge their responsibilities with loyalty, discipline and a strong sense of duty.
“I charge the newly sworn-in officials to discharge their duties with loyalty, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility as we work together to build a more prosperous, peaceful and progressive Apapa-Iganmu,” he said.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of official vehicles to councillors to facilitate their legislative duties and community engagement across the wards within the council development area.
