Oshiomhole, Keyamo, ANA, others celebrate Akerele, brother @ 50

BENIN CITY – IT was a shower of encomiums from former governor of Edo State and now the senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of Regional Development, Hoin Abubakar Momoh as the Country Director, Policy House Inc. Abuja and former Chief of Staff to Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo State, Taiwo Akerele and his twin brother Kehinde marked their golden jubilee.

Others that also celebrated them were the Director General, National Institute of Sport (NIS) who is a former deputy governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, former Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba and the Abuja Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

In a message by Oshiomhole, the former Labour Leader said Akerele had been a friend, “confidant, and dependable ally in our commitment to make Edo State a better place for the benefit of our people.

“At 50, your journey reflects a legacy of integrity, intellect, and courage in leadership. You have consistently demonstrated that leadership is not just about holding office, but about influencing change, building systems, mentoring youths, and contributing meaningfully to society.”

On his part, Keyamu in a congratulatory letter described the golden jubilee as a milestone in the lives of the Akereles and described Taiwo as a man of intellect, discipline, and steadfast commitment. “From your days as a principled student union activist in the 1990s to your service as Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government and later as Senior Policy Advisor, you have consistently demonstrated a deep dedication to service and good governance.

“I recall with pride our time together in Washington in 2023, when you served as part of the delegation that defended the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside Hon. Sunday Dare, Ajuri Ngelale and other loyal patriots.”

The Minister of Regional Development, Hon Abubakar Momoh commended the value the Akereles have added to society through their intellect, service, and commitment to progress while Agba commended Taiwo the collaboration he had with him at The Clem Agba Foundation (TCAF), “where your commitment to humanitarian service was evident through your efforts in joining several volunteers in providing free screening and vaccination for Hepatitis B among at-risk populations.”

In his message, Shaibu said the lives of the Akerels “continue to exemplify the virtues of responsible leadership, strong family values, and an unwavering commitment to the common good. As progressive-minded individuals, your contributions over the years have reflected hard work, diligence, resilience, and a consistent pursuit of excellence. These admirable qualities have not only distinguished you both as respected personalities but have also earned you recognition and admiration across all strata of society.”

The Abuja Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors also congratulated Taiwo Akerele who is a member on his birthday.

A statement by the Chairman, Arc. Chukwudi Eze described Akerele as an accomplished Nigerian professional, technocrat, and leader.

“We at ANA Abuja salute his exceptionalism. We wish him many more years on this earthly plain in health, wealth, and happiness.”
