Kola Olomide, the newly elected Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa Chapter, has pledged to protect the collective interests of members and uphold the dignity of the profession.
Speaking after his election alongside a new executive committee, Olomide described the victory as both an honour and a mandate to serve the union diligently.
“I am profoundly humbled by the confidence you have reposed in me. Your approval at the polls is not just a vote for me, but a mandate to serve, to protect our collective interests, and to uphold the dignity of our profession,” he said.
He paid tribute to past leaders, acknowledging their sacrifices in advancing the union’s cause. “I stand on the shoulders of giants and must first acknowledge the efforts of our past leaders who brought our chapter to this enviable height,” Olomide added.
Recognising the challenges ahead, the new chairman stressed the importance of unity and collaboration. “I am aware of the tasks before us; the challenges are many, but with unity, intellectual rigour, and the spirit of comradeship that define ASUP, we shall navigate them together,” he said.
