A political group under the umbrella of the Warri Federal Constituency Progressive Forum, (WFCPF) has called on the Executive Officer of Bon Hotel De Tranquil, High Chief Promise Lawuru, to contest the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The group said the appeal was driven by the need for a new direction of leadership that can strengthen political representation and drive development across the constituency.

In a statement signed by the forum’s Chairman, Chief Markson Aghokigho Igiegie, members said the time has come for vibrant and accessible leadership capable of delivering empowerment opportunities and meaningful development for the people of the Warri Federal Constituency.

The forum noted that the constituency faces growing socio-economic challenges and requires a representative who can champion job creation, economic empowerment and legislative actions aimed at tackling hunger and poverty across the three Warri local government areas.

Responding to the call, High Chief Promise Lawuru thanked the forum and the people of the Warri Federal Constituency for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appeal as a demonstration of trust.

“You informed me that there was an urgent meeting and requested that I come. Having listened to you today, I have heard clearly your appeal asking me to contest for the House of Representatives.”

Lawuru, however, said he would first consult widely with key stakeholders before taking a decision on the request.

“I will respectfully ask that you give me some time to consult my friends, political leaders and members of my family before I respond formally,” he said.
