Nigeria’s growing influence in artificial intelligence–driven filmmaking was spotlighted on the global stage as AiFlix360 Films secured four major awards at the 2026 Nawada International Film Festival Awards (NIFFA) held in Nawada, Bihar, India.
The AI-first film studio, founded by Nigerian entrepreneur and filmmaker Dr. Ope Banwo, emerged as one of the standout participants at the sixth edition of the international festival, winning across Documentary, Animation, Foreign Film, and Feature Film categories.
The awards ceremony, held on January 4, 2026, attracted more than 2,300 film submissions from filmmakers in over 80 countries, underscoring the scale and competitiveness of the festival.
Among the winning titles, ‘Wakanda Is Real’ clinched the “Best Documentary Film” award, while ‘Detty December’ was named “Best Animation Film”. ‘Guardians of Naija’ earned the “Best Foreign Film” honour, and ‘Talent Hunt’ rounded off the strong showing by winning “Best Feature Film”. Three of the four award-winning films were directed by Dr. Banwo.
Reacting to the achievement, Banwo described the wins as a significant milestone for AI-powered cinema and a validation of the studio’s creative direction.
“These awards confirm that AI filmmaking is not a passing trend but a serious and evolving frontier in global cinema,” he said. “What we are building at AiFlix360 shows that technology, when guided by strong storytelling and creative discipline, can produce films that resonate on the world stage.”
AiFlix360 Films operates as an AI-driven studio, integrating story development, cinematic direction, voice performance design, AI-assisted animation, and advanced post-production workflows to deliver film content tailored for African and international audiences.
Industry observers note that the multiple wins position AiFlix360 Films as a notable player in the emerging field of AI-powered cinema, while reinforcing its broader goal of developing a scalable, African-led film production model that leverages advanced technology without compromising narrative depth or cinematic quality.
The studio’s success at NIFFA adds to the growing recognition of Nigeria’s creative and technological capabilities in the global film industry.
