Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described as patriotic the support of minority ethnic groups in Northern Nigeria for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Prof. Yilwatda spoke in Abuja when he received leaders of the Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG), led by Convener Chief Jacob Edi, at the APC National Secretariat. Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Mustapha Bala Dawaki, the APC chairman praised the group for independently supporting the current administration, saying it reflected appreciation for the government’s efforts and concern for national development.

“I have observed the activities of the group for a while, and their voluntary support for the Tinubu-led administration demonstrates patriotism and genuine commitment to Nigeria’s progress,” Prof. Yiltwada said.

Chief Jacob Edi explained that the NNMG was formed to support initiatives that improve the welfare of citizens. He highlighted that the Tinubu administration has been fair in project allocations and appointments, benefiting minority groups through initiatives such as the North Central Development Commission, the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State, the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology in Kwara State, and various road projects.

Chief Edi also acknowledged Prof. Yiltwada’s emergence as APC National Chairman as part of the administration’s merit-based approach. He said the NNMG represents over 200 minority ethnic groups across the 19 northern states.

“We are ready to work day and night to ensure President Tinubu not only wins a second term but secures a resounding, unchallengeable victory that will consolidate progress,” Chief Edi stated.

The visit concluded with the NNMG presenting a symbolic membership card to Prof. Yiltwada and requesting him to serve as the group’s patron.
