The Rotary Club of Abeokuta, Rotary Club of Danville and Rotary Club of Oke Mosan Golden have joined forces to implement a life-changing basic education and literacy project in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The project covered two schools; Macjob Grammar School and St. Paul Primary School, both in the Onikolobo area of the metropolis.

The initiative, which aligned with Rotary International’s focus on supporting education and literacy, provided tangible support to students by distributing 200 pairs of school sandals, 200 school bags, and exercise books to beneficiaries across both schools.

Speaking during the outreach, Rotarian Adegboye Is-haq Taiwo, President of the Rotary Club of Oke Mosan Golden, explained that education remains a gateway to breaking the cycle of poverty and building responsible citizens, stressing that Rotary’s intervention was not only to provide educational materials, but also to inspire students to take their education seriously.

In his remarks, Rotarian Ogundipe Aduragbemi Smith, President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta, who was represented by Adewale Azeez, encouraged the pupils to make good use of the items given to them and urged teachers to continue guiding the children toward excellence.

He stressed that Rotary’s mission goes beyond charity, as it seeks to create opportunities for children to maximize their potential.

Appreciation was sent to Rotarian Chris Parker, President of Rotary Club of Danville, who was delighted at the cross-continental collaboration between Nigeria and the United States, emphasizing the “investment in basic education as the most sustainable way to empower communities and transform lives,” which reflects Rotary’s vision of creating lasting change globally.

The programme featured motivational sessions with the students and interactive engagement with school authorities, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to education as a tool for community development.

With the successful implementation of the Basic Education & Literacy Project, the three clubs have demonstrated their unwavering dedication to fostering quality education, bridging gaps in learning, and empowering the next generation with the tools needed to succeed.
