Adeleke distributes vehicles, instruction materials to educational offices, schools

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday flagged off the distribution of vehicles and motorcycles to zonal education offices and Local Government Area offices for proper monitoring.

The vehicles and materials distributed through the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board included one Sienna bus, eight mini-buses, 31 motorcycles, textbooks, computer sets, solar equipment, and school diaries, among others.

Speaking during the flag off held at SUBEB conference hall, Abeere, Adeleke who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Teslim Igbalaye, noted that education remains a top priority of his administration.

Adeleke said, “Today’s flag-off marks the distribution of new instructional materials across our schools. These include exercise books, notebooks, chalks, markers, textbooks in core subjects, and over 12,000 sets of furniture. With this, the burden of pupils carrying chairs from home is now history.

“Education remains a top priority of our administration. Since assuming office, we have consistently invested in raising the quality of learning in our schools. With your support, we have made significant progress.

“Earlier this year, we also secured approval for the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Action Plan, now under implementation. It covers the construction of 333 classrooms, boreholes in schools, toilets, perimeter fencing, ICT facilities, monitoring vehicles and motorbikes, as well as additional furniture for teachers and learners.”

The Governor, while commending the SUBEB chairman, Ibukun Fadipe, and his team for their commitment to the achievements, also appreciated UBEC for “its continued partnership with Osun State.”

In his remarks, the SUBEB chairman, Fadipe, said the vehicles and motorcycles would be distributed across local governments for school monitoring and urged teachers in the state to make good use of the materials and continue their support for the present administration.

He said, “Among the items to be distributed here today are: computer sets and their accessories, tablets, solar equipment, mini buses (Sienna and Korope), and motor cycles for school monitoring, science equipment, library materials, sports equipment, school chalk, school diaries, writing materials, exercise books, textbooks, Mathematics kits, among others.

“These instructional materials were procured by the State Government in order to help in facilitating smooth teaching and learning processes in the schools, as well as smooth school administration and supervisory roles of heads of schools”.
