Tranos, engineering and manufacturing solutions provider, has began the construction of a new production facility in Mowe, Ogun State, which will protect existing jobs and generate hundreds of new roles, from engineers and technicians to production and administrative staff.
Chief Executive Officer, Jude Abalaka, speaking at the occasion, described the ground-breaking as a major step towards expanding Tranos’ production capacity in areas like solar panel manufacturing, gas generator assembly, cable management systems, power distribution and panels, and various other components; added that employees will work in an environment designed with ergonomics, natural light, and advanced ventilation, aligned with global standards.
He maintained: “Empowering industries across Africa. Tranos’ trusted product portfolio will include: cable management systems, IEC type-tested power distribution panels, electrical and mechanical enclosures, industrial gaskets, pre-fabricated substation skids, and many more.
“These solutions will ensure efficiency, safety, and reliability in mission-critical environments across power, energy, oil & gas, telecoms, and manufacturing,” he added.
According to Abalaka, the first phase of the development includes a modern production floor and corporate offices designed to meet global standards. It will incorporate automation, Industry 4.0 features, ergonomic workspaces, natural lighting, and advanced ventilation systems to ensure employee well-being and operational efficiency.
Abalaka explained at the occasion: “Today’s groundbreaking is more than a construction milestone; it is an investment in Africa’s industrial future.”
The new facility, spanning over 15.7 hectares (157,440 sqm), will consolidate all of Tranos’ manufacturing activities on one campus, ranging from raw-material processing and cable systems to Research & Development, while fostering innovation, collaboration, and productivity.
According to Abalaka, the complex will house an 800 MW-per-year solar photovoltaic panel production line, an expanded gas generator assembly plant, cable management systems manufacturing, and advanced power distribution panel production.
“It is an investment in Africa’s industrial future. This campus will scale our production, create jobs, and deliver solutions aligned with Nigeria’s energy and infrastructure ambitions,”Abalaka said, adding that the first phase will include a modern production floor and offices, with automation and Industry 4.0 features.
