The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has urged the newly inaugurated executive council of its Akwa Ibom State chapter, led by Surveyor Iniobong Wilson, to adhere strictly to the institute’s constitution and key operational principles in the execution of their duties.

President of NIQS, Mr. Kene Nzekwe, gave the charge during the investiture of the 9th chapter chairman and the inauguration of the 2025–2027 Senate held at the Civil Service Auditorium, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo.

Nzekwe emphasized that adherence to the institute’s constitution, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, cost and project management, and financial sustainability are foundational to the growth and relevance of NIQS at both national and subnational levels.

“As we witness the formal assumption of leadership by Iniobong Wilson, it presents a unique opportunity to collectively envision the path forward. I appeal to the new chairman and the entire Senate to wholeheartedly embrace these guiding principles, as they form the bedrock of our collective efforts,” Nzekwe stated.

He reminded the new leadership that these principles were outlined during his own investiture in November 2023 and remain crucial in positioning the Akwa Ibom chapter for greater distinction and success.

In his acceptance speech, Surveyor Iniobong Wilson unveiled a seven-point agenda for his administration, which includes promoting professionalism, enhancing the chapter’s visibility, executing impactful projects, and sustaining existing collaboration with the state government.

Wilson called on all Quantity Surveyors in the state, whether in the public or private sector, to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and commitment in service delivery.

“In view of the responsibility placed on us, I call on all Quantity Surveyors in Akwa Ibom to maintain excellence in their practices,” he said. “We inherited a growing chapter and pray for God’s help in taking it to greater heights.”

He expressed gratitude to the election panel for conducting a transparent election and pledged to lead the chapter with dedication, while seeking the support of members in achieving the administration’s goals for 2025–2027.
