Benin City – A group of concerned youths from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area has appealed to Senator Adams Oshiomhole to extend the physical dividends of representation to their constituency, just as he has done in the Etsako axis of Edo North Senatorial District.

In a public statement signed by Arc. Paul Lawani, the youths acknowledged Oshiomhole’s vocal stance on national issues in the 10th National Assembly, especially his criticism of electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), his interventions on insecurity, and his concern about rising unemployment. They, however, emphasized the need for visible infrastructural development in Akoko-Edo.

“You have been a representative every community wishes to have, and we maintain that we would not hesitate to swap you with 20 of our own politicians if the Etsako people would release you to us,” the statement read.

The group praised Oshiomhole’s legacy as the former Governor of Edo State, particularly for the extensive developmental projects carried out in Etsako, which is also his native local government. They noted that while his vocal representation has been commendable, Akoko-Edo now yearns for more tangible benefits.

“Your Excellency, beyond being vocal on our behalf, your physical presence will do us a lot of good,” the youths stated.

They also urged the senator, as a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to call on other party members representing various constituencies to increase their efforts toward addressing the infrastructural gaps in Akoko-Edo.

“Your influence on Akoko-Edo’s political terrain cannot be overemphasized. We hope you will play a key role in guiding the emergence of competent leaders who will prioritize the development of our land and people, just as you have done for Etsako over the years,” the statement continued.

The group concluded by expressing hope that Oshiomhole would use the remaining two years of his tenure to make a meaningful impact on the constituency. “As the father of Edo North, Akoko-Edo seeks to feel your physical presence just as Etsako is currently experiencing it,” they added.
