…APC State Chair Says Criticisms Won’t Deter Eno
By Chioma Onuegbu, Uyo
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged citizens to disregard destructive criticisms and focus on supporting his administration’s ARISE Agenda, aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development in the state.
Governor Eno made the call on Wednesday while addressing a large crowd of supporters at the Victor Attah International Airport, following his return from the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) 2025 Special Event on Ocean Rise and Coastal Resilience held in Nice, France.
He clarified that his alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a strategic move to position Akwa Ibom for greater development, not a source of disunity.
“To those who think we don’t have a choice—tell them I have exercised my right. It is within our constitutional right to freely associate,” Eno said.
“Let’s remain focused, because when you’re chasing an elephant, you don’t stop for a barking dog. Some of the critics are not even from Akwa Ibom State—they meddle in matters that do not concern them. This is an Akwa Ibom matter.”
He reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful and united Akwa Ibom, pledging continued support for President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, especially in the completion of federal projects in the state.
Using a metaphor, Eno likened himself to a driver who understands the road ahead:
“I’m the one holding the steering wheel, and I know where the road has no traffic or potholes. That’s why I’ve chosen to take Akwa Ibom on a smooth expressway.”
He further described himself as a leader guided by the Holy Spirit, called to serve the state at this critical time.
In his remarks, State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, dismissed the criticisms against the governor’s political decisions as baseless, asserting that Governor Eno remains committed to delivering good governance irrespective of political noise.
“Governor Eno will continue to lead with passion. Political criticism will not derail him,” Ntukekpo stated.
Also speaking at the event, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, said the colorful welcome was a reflection of the people’s love and appreciation for a governor who has, according to him, performed creditably well.
He assured of the unwavering support of Akwa Ibom people, pledging their continued loyalty and alignment with Governor Eno’s leadership.
