28th convocation: Olatunji-Bello seeks synergy between alumni, LASU

The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Lagos, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has called for collaboration between the alumni and the university’s management that will help in realizing the dream of placing the university among the best on the African continent and globally.

She made the call on Monday during the Coconut Breaking Event which was a part of activities marking the 28th convocation ceremony of the university.

The Coconut Breaking event is to promote the rich cultural heritage of the state where the plant is cultivated in huge quantities.

“We are unwavering in our vision of making our great citadel of learning to rank the best in West Africa and also amongst the best on the continent and globally. To achieve this, we appreciate the support of our great alumni and we are seeking for more cooperation.

“I am happy with the great strides our alumni are making in different spheres of life across the globe and the management is also not relenting in our efforts to achieve our dream of a university of international standards. I thank the staff, management and students for their support and cooperation and I pray that as we break coconut today, we are breaking all barriers to progress,” she said.

In her speech, Prof. Basirat Oladipupo, who stood in for the National President of the Alumni Association, commended the management for the efforts at taking the university to greater heights.

She said the alumni have taken note of the new lease of life breathe into the university and that they are planning to execute some legacy projects in their school.
