The Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South, Delta State, witnessed a significant milestone in its history as it successfully elected a new youth leadership to head the Ubulu-Uku Youth Development Council.

The election, which took place at the Ubulu-Uku Primary School, was a testament to the kingdom’s commitment to youth empowerment and development.

The event was attended by a plethora of dignitaries, including officials from the Ministry of Youth Development, traditional leaders, leadership of the caretaker committee of Ubulu-Uku Development Council (UDC), electoral bodies and security operatives.

The Commissioner for Ministry of Youth Development, Hon. Barr. ThankGod, led the delegation from the Ministry, while the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Chief James Asika Endurance (Ibori Ubulu), represented the traditional institution alongside other chiefs from the Obi of Ubulu-Zulu palace .

The election was a highly contested one, with several candidates vying for various positions.

In his congratulatory remarks, the Commissioner for Ministry of Youth Development, Hon. Barr. Harry ThankGod Trakiriowei, urged the newly elected executives to be good ambassadors of the community.

He emphasized the importance of peace and development, noting that “where there is no peace, there is no development.”

Hon. Barr. ThankGod also encouraged the new executives to work in the interests of the community and Delta State as a whole.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Mr. Nwokolo Sunday, expressed his gratitude to the electorate for trusting him with the leadership of the Ubulu-Uku Youth Development Council.

He emphasized that his victory was not just for himself, but for the entire Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.

Mr. Nwokolo Sunday pledged to unite the youths of the community and work towards the progress and development of the kingdom.

He also promised to engage with all stakeholders, including the traditional institution, community leaders, and government officials, to ensure that the youths of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom were empowered to reach their full potential.

The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Chief James Asika Endurance (Ibori Ubulu), also congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to ensure that Ubulu-Uku Kingdom remained violent-free.

He emphasized the importance of peace and stability in promoting development and progress in the kingdom.

The Senior Special Assistant on civil society , Mr. Harrison Gwamnishu also congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to protect the rights of the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom.

He reminded them that their leadership was not just about promoting the interests of the youths, but also about protecting the rights and dignity of all members of the community.
