Police arrest over 580 suspects for kidnapping, robbery, other crimes in Kaduna

Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have recorded significant successes in their fight against crime, arresting over 580 suspects from December 31, 2024, to date for various offenses.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, credited the achievements to intelligence-driven operations, collaboration with sister security agencies, and strong community partnerships.

Suspects Arrested Include:

20 suspected kidnappers

320 suspected phone snatchers

32 suspected armed robbers

5 car thieves

13 motorcycle snatchers

10 suspects involved in rape cases

23 receivers of stolen goods

Rescued Victims and Recovered Items:

Over 30 kidnapped victims rescued

34 stolen motorcycles

10 stolen motor vehicles

1 submachine gun, 4 AK-47 rifles, 2 pistols

28 rounds of live ammunition with 5 magazines

52 rustled cows

20 bags of suspected Indian hemp

Key Operations:

February 10, 2025: Arrest of two suspects, Inusa Ibrahim and Hamisu Musa, for providing information to kidnappers in Kangimin Gobirawa Village.

January 15, 2025: Arrest of motorcycle thieves Ibrahim Abubakar and Surakatu Usman, who attacked victims with sledgehammers.

January 19, 2025: Apprehension of notorious receivers, Ibrahim Nura and Musa Abdullahi, with recovery of 12 motorcycles and three tricycles.

January 23, 2025: Arrest of a serial car thief, Abubakar, and recovery of a stolen Toyota Yaris.

February 2, 2025: Rescue of 23 kidnapped victims in Kajuru LGA after an encounter with armed bandits.

January 20, 2025: Seizure of 40 bags of suspected Indian hemp and arrest of suspects along Zaria-Kaduna Expressway.

January 9, 2025: Recovery of property worth N35 million from notorious armed robbers along Zaria-Kano Road.

December 23, 2024: Arrest of a syndicate specialized in stealing money from bank customers.

January 3, 2025: Recovery of a stolen KIA vehicle and arrest of suspects involved in multiple crimes.

The Commissioner warned criminal elements that Kaduna is no longer a safe haven for crime, emphasizing the state’s strengthened intelligence network and collaboration with security agencies.

He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police and Governor Uba Sani for their continued support.

Rabiu urged residents to remain law-abiding and provide credible information to ensure a safer and more peaceful Kaduna State.
