We often hear that artificial intelligence will disrupt jobs, reinvent industries, and define our future. But what if AI’s most urgent role isn’t disruption, but empathy?

My journey into AI didn’t start in a lab. It began in quiet conversations during my dissertation interviews with retail workers. It continued in my Research role, where participants disclosed burnout, neglect, and invisible emotional labour.

These experiences led me to find a solution – CheckInAI, an AI tool designed not to replace researchers, but to support them in doing ethical, emotionally aware work.

In a fast-paced, growing world of AI and innovation, founders like me are working at the intersection of AI and ethical research, driving change to not just build smartly but socially responsibly.

AI is often viewed as cold, clinical, or removed from human sentiment. But what if it could do the opposite? What if AI could care? That’s the premise behind CheckInAI.

During qualitative studies, especially on sensitive topics (grief, workplace trauma, identity, or mental health), participants open up emotionally. Most academic research tools stop at “thank you for your time.” But emotional impact lingers. Participants may leave feeling triggered, vulnerable, or unsettled.

CheckInAI adds a post-study layer that asks: How are you feeling? And more importantly, it listens. Using Natural Language Processing (NLP), it interprets open-text responses, flags signs of distress, and alerts researchers in real-time. It’s not therapy. It’s a care tool.Innovation is no longer just about speed or scale; it’s about purpose. And the future belongs to those who can blend technology with humanity.
