International Society of Diplomats elects new leaders

The International Society of Diplomats (ISD) Nigeria has elected its new national leadership to advance its vision and mission, focusing on economic growth and sustainable development in the country.

In a statement signed by ISD Country Director, Prof. Edet B. Ekpenyong, the organisation announced the emergence of key leaders following the formal inauguration of ISD’s General Assembly and Council of Emissaries in Nigeria by the Secretary-General, H.E. Ambassador Manuel Fernandez.

The newly elected officials include Rt. Hon. Dr. Dan Anaebo Okekenta as Mayor of the Council of Emissaries and Speaker of the ISD General Assembly in Nigeria, Princess Hanadi A. Marwan as Deputy Mayor and Deputy Speaker, Barr. Charity Kaniye-Ebeku as Clerk of the Council, and Prof. Aliyu Idris as Deputy Clerk.

Additionally, distinguished personalities were appointed as chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, and members of various standing committees.

Speaking at the inauguration, Speaker Amb. Okekenta reaffirmed ISD’s commitment to fostering international collaboration in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. He emphasised ISD’s role as a globally recognised organisation dedicated to advancing diplomacy through friendship, trade, investment, and peacebuilding.

Officially launched in Nigeria on December 17, 2024, ISD aims to provide a sustainable platform for individuals and organisations to address conflicts and drive economic development, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
