The week-long 21st annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), themed “Onward Christian Soldiers,” held at the Redemption City of God along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, showcased testimonies of miracles and deliverances.

General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye described this year’s Congress as the best yet, emphasizing God’s promise that everyone in attendance would experience a divine touch. Numerous individuals queued to testify to their miracles, though time constraints limited the number of testimonies shared.

In his sermon titled “Onward Christian Soldiers,” Pastor Adeboye urged Christians to confront life’s challenges courageously, promising that a crown awaits those who overcome life’s battles. He encouraged believers to adopt a lifestyle of praise, prayer, faith, and love, describing the characteristics of a true Christian soldier.

According to him, “Light is not supposed to run from darkness; rather, darkness should flee from light. A Christian should confront all negative circumstances and declare victory over them.”

Pastor Adeboye further stated, “Once you become a genuine child of God, you are no longer a civilian but a soldier in the army of Christ. As a soldier of Christ, you undergo training—spiritual boot camp—to become a warrior.”

Senior Pastor of Covenant Family Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, Pastor Stephen Rathod, delivered a heartfelt message urging Christians to leverage the reach of social media to spread the gospel rather than attack one another.

Speaking at the Congress, Pastor Rathod lamented the disunity among Christians on social media, calling it disheartening to see believers using the platform to disparage fellow believers. He cautioned against wounding or abandoning one another, stressing the importance of unity in the body of Christ.

In his words: “We are the only army that fights itself, wounds fellow soldiers, and leaves them behind. Stop using social media to attack one another. Young men and women of God, respect the older warriors who have battled before you. Follow their footsteps and submit to their wisdom.”

He continued, “Bishops, prophets, apostles, pastors, and evangelists—use social media to preach the word of God only. Stop tearing each other down. The devil is smiling, using us to fight ourselves, while we lose members and weaken the body of Christ.”

The Congress was marked by numerous testimonies of instant miracles and deliverances, reinforcing the theme of Christian soldiers overcoming battles. Pastor Rathod emphasized that Christians must unite in faith, ensuring the Church remains a strong and victorious force worldwide.

“We are at a crossroads in the body of Christ, in America, Africa, and across the globe. Let us march onward as Christian soldiers, spreading light, love, and the gospel message,” he concluded.
