Awka – The Anambra State House of Assembly has approved the N607 billion 2025 budget submitted by Governor Chukwuma Soludo on November 19, 2024.

During a post-passage media briefing, Mr. Ejike Okechukwu, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, confirmed that the budget was passed without any changes to the total amount presented by the governor.

However, Okechukwu noted that there were internal adjustments and realignments within the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

According to him, the budget allocates N139.5 billion (23%) to recurrent expenditure and N407.5 billion (77%) to capital projects.

“The budget size remained unchanged, but internal codes were adjusted to enable the government to access funds for urgent needs. Institutions like Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and Nwafor Orizu College of Education received increased allocations for recurrent expenses and subventions to enhance their performance,” Okechukwu explained.

The chairman expressed optimism that the executive arm of the government would achieve over 80% implementation of the 2025 budget.
