The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has exceeded its N5.07 trillion revenue target.

The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi , made the revelation at the opening of the on-going CG Conference in Abuja.

He said that as at yesterday, NCS  had collected over N5.079 trillion and was on its way to achieving about 10 percent excess of the 2024 revenue target.

Mr. Adeniyi also said that his team increased its work by recording seizures of various prohibited items, with duty-paid value of over N28 billion.

The CG expressed concern over the massive management exit rate, revealing that in 2022, the organisation saw 60 percent of its management exiting; 36 percent in 2023 and 2024 has already witnessed 40 percent exit and could be much higher at the end of the year.

He said that he had initiated a Customs University to drive human capital development of the NCS.

Ribadu: Lakurawas made mistake

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who represented, President Bola Tinubu at the conference said the new terror group, Lakurawas that has invaded parts of the North West made a mistake.

He vowed that the federal government would eliminate the group shortly, for daring President Tinubu.

His words, “The new group, Lakurawas or whatever they call themselves have .ade a mistake.  This is Nigeria of 2024.  We will finish them.

“No one dares Tinubu and wins.  No one fights Tinubu and wins. The terrorists that were in many parts of the country, we are killing.

“There is silence in many part where they were operating.  Go to where Boko Haram was operating.   There is silence.  They have ran to Niger.  Many are surrendering.

“Go to Niger Delta. There is quiet. That is why we can produce 1.8 million barrels per day now.  Go to the East , there is quiet.”
