National grid collapses second time in 24 hours

Electricity distribution companies, DisCos, have announced another national grid collapse. They made the announcement in separate statements on Tuesday.

The is coming less than 24 hours after a similar collapse led to a nationwide blackout on Monday.

Yesterday’s nationals grid collapse, according to a statement on X by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, occurred at 6:58pm.

On today’s incident, Eko Disco said: “Kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network.

“We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored.”

For Ikeja Electric: “Please, be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/24 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network.”

They assured customers they were working with partners and stakeholders to restore electricity.
