With studies showing that Urinary Tract Infections, UTI, which affect 20 percent of women and men, go untreated and can spread to the kidneys, Shodan Pharmaceuticals Ltd has introduced Sitfine, a clinically approved toilet seat sanitiser to promote public health and hygiene in Nigeria.
The product is designed to kill 99.99 percent of germs and bacteria and offers a safe, effective, and convenient solution for maintaining clean and healthy restrooms.
Produced by Excid Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Sitfine, according to Shodan, was developed in response to the growing concern over the transmission of diseases through public restrooms.
Addressing journalists at a media briefing in Lagos, the Vice President of the Shodan Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Pharm. Daniel Okeoma explained that the product was specifically designed to target harmful microorganisms, including those responsible for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Okeoma lamented that untreated infections can cause harm to health, particularly, in women. “For some women, if you go and do tests, one of the things why they are not in a way to conceive is because they have untreated infection. One of them is Staphylococcus aureus, and we have Candida, Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium while candida is a form host. Of course, we have different species, but the more prevalent one is the aureus one.
But if untreated, it will get to your system and cause damage to your system, and not even to the extent of causing a urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection, UTI, when left untreated, can also cause kidney issues. So, Sitfine is going to attack these diseases that I mentioned earlier.
“It can prevent you from getting that STI, some of the micro-organisms that are causing STI. The anatomical structure of the women, when they go to the toilet, they can easily get that flash. They can easily get that thing stuck to their body.
According to him, for broad-spectrum germ killing, the spray can eliminate a wide range of germs and bacteria, including those found on toilet seats and other restroom surfaces.
“Sitfine not only sanitises but also eliminates unpleasant odours, leaving a refreshing scent.
The compact design makes Sitfine easy to carry in bags or purses, ensuring it is always readily available. The spray works quickly, providing immediate protection against germs.”
He explained that the product which has been approved by NAFDAC, ensuring its safety and efficacy, added that it is being distributed nationwide through major supermarkets and online channels.
Adding that the product represents a significant advancement in toilet seat hygiene, he said Excid Pharmaceuticals is empowering individuals to take control of their hygiene and protect themselves from harmful germs.
He said under the leadership of Mr Seun Tola Shosanya, Shodan Pharmaceuticals is focused on delivering quality products that meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
He said Shodan Pharmaceuticals was dedicated to supporting local industries and reducing Nigeria’s dependency on imported healthcare products.
