• As Uniosun trains students in entrepreneurship

The acting head, Department of Computer Engineering, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr Dayo Sobowale has disclosed that the economic policies of the Federal Government are not too bad but demand sacrifice from every stakeholder.

Fielding questions from journalists after delivering a paper at the 2024 Entrepreneurship Studies and Innovation, training programme of the Osun State University, held in Osogbo, he said government needs to communicate its programmes effectively to the masses.

According to him, the federal government is striving to make life more prosperous for Nigerians but it wouldn’t happen overnight. Everyone must be ready to sacrifice for sometimes before things would turn out better.

“What government needs to do now is to engage or communicate effectively with the youths on its intention and the timeline the policy would be to manifest positively. This could have curb the restiveness in the land”.

Speaking on the theme of the lecture, tagged “Artificial Intelligence And Entrepreneurship: The Imperative Of Curriculum Review For National Development”, he emphasised the urgent need for educational institutions to revamp their curriculums to keep pace with rapid advancements in science and technology.

He enjoined youths not only to be users of artificial intelligence, but to become developers in a bid to create job opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University, Professor Clement Adebooye, urged higher institutions in Nigeria to prioritise the development of digital competencies among students, noting that they will be better equipped to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven global market.

He said, “Technology is driving our world, and the most significant driver is artificial intelligence, which is essential in the computer and digital economy. By building digital skills in line with the demands of AI industries, we will not only improve the global economy but also enhance food production and other critical sectors”.
