MC Monica’s Journey ‘From Bayelsa to Lagos’

Award-winning comedian and event compere, Edeh Sylvester Chisom, better known as MC Monica is set to host the maiden edition of his comedy show, ‘From Bayelsa to Lagos: A Journey of Laughter and Culture’.

Slated for April 28, at the prestigious Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, the show is a celebration of culture and fusion of the richness of Bayelsa state as well as the vibrant spirit of Lagos.

Speaking on the  event, MC Monica said that he would be bringing his unique comedic style to the table, creating a bridge between the energetic lifestyle of Lagosians and the rich culture of Bayelsa state.

“Comedy goes beyond making people laugh to finding humour in difficult situations. At a time when Nigerians are yearning for a better nation, we owe it as a duty to celebrate the good in us. That is what we hope to achieve with this comedy show.

“Lagos and Bayelsa states have a lot in common. They are both coastal megacities and a melting pot of cultures. The creative energy of young Nigerians resident in both states remains unmatched.

In addition, both states play pivotal roles in my creative evolution so it only makes sense that I host a show of this nature,” he said.

The comedian, who holds a degree in Fine and Applied Arts from the Niger Delta University, added that the show is expected to feature special performances that will spice up the evening.

MC Monica, who hails from Enugu state, started his journey into the world of comedy in 2014, from the streets of Bayelsa State. His signature show, ‘Starch Ur Teeth’ took flight in 2016 and has since become a celebrated annual event, which boasts of five editions showcasing MC Monica’s comedic prowess.

Beyond laughter, MC Monica has also touched the lives of indigent people following the setting up of his ‘D Children Must Chop’ programme. The programme, which later evolved into the ‘Edeh Sylvester Chisom Foundation’ is an initiative which has touched many lives across 21 states, addressing hunger and championing education.
