A group, ‘Concerned Citizens of Nigeria in Diaspora’ has called on the nation’s security agents to
conduct thorough investigations and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing over the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Promise, popularly known as Mohbad.

The group, in a statement, signed by its Coordinator, Folashade Williams, and made available to Vanguard in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, underscored the necessity for impartiality in the pursuit of justice for Mohbad, emphasizing the judiciary’s role as the bastion of fairness and equality.

The statement was titled, “Demand for Justice: A call for probity in the wake of Mohbad’s controversial demise”.

The statement reads, “in the aftermath of the tragic and mysterious passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Promise, better known as Mohbad, disturbing revelations have surfaced regarding prior warnings he issued to the Nigeria Police Force.

“In a petition filed before his demise, Mohbad named some individuals, holding them accountable for any harm befalling him.

“Despite these alerts, the petition was not promptly and diligently addressed, raising questions about the diligence of law enforcement in protecting Nigerian citizens.

“The failure to thoroughly investigate has sparked outrage both locally and internationally, with accusations swirling regarding the connection to Mohbad’s demise.

“In light of these developments, it is imperative to heed Mohbad’s earlier pleas for intervention and demand transparency from those implicated in his petition.

“The Concerned Citizens of Nigeria in the diaspora underscore the necessity for impartiality in the pursuit of justice for Mohbad, emphasizing the judiciary’s role as the bastion of fairness and equality.

“The forthcoming legal proceedings will serve as a litmus test for the integrity of Nigeria’s judicial system, potentially either restoring faith in its efficacy or further eroding public trust. It is incumbent upon the authorities to conduct thorough investigations and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing in Mohbad’s demise.
