A week after the return of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Igboho to Nigeria, Professor Banji Akintoye, leader of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, has also indicated his intention to return home.
He said this at a reception held in honour of the mother of Sunday Adeyemo at Sekinat Hall, Soka area in Ibadan.
Prof Akintoye whose association was at the forefront of the self-determination struggle during the former President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration went into exile following a rumour that security agents were on his trail for his stance on Yoruba nation agitation.
The Professor of History spoke through his spokesperson, Gani Alagbala, who arrived in the country from the United States of America.
Alagbala quoted Prof Akintoye as saying, “I am highly fulfilled as a Yoruba to witness the victory of Igboho and his eventual return to Nigeria after a long battle with the authorities. I can now return to Nigeria.”
Though, the professor did not say the actual time he would return home, Vanguard gathered that he may be back within the next two months.
Recall that Prof Akintoye also stood firmly against the invasion of the South West by Fulani herders.
But, after the assumption of office by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in May last year, the agitation for Yoruba nation has been in a lull.
