THE Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun, Delta State in its bid of achieving the local content mandate to produce Manpower for the Petroleum Industry has successfully trained 48 Technicians for the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG.
This was disclosed yesterday by Dr Henry A. Adimula, Principal & Chief Executive, PTI during the graduation ceremony for the Technicians.
According to Adimula, “What we are witnessing here today is a testimony that PTI is delivering on the mandate as envisioned by its founding fathers.
“Delivering this very specialized training against all odds shows once again the resilience of the average Nigerian, though we have never doubted our capability to deliver world-class training despite the doubts of the industry player.
“Nigeria LNG also had some doubts which were very evident in the number of times their officials visited and held countless meetings with us before signing the agreement.
“Today, PT is proud to say we
have delivered on a very technical training comparable with that obtainable anywhere in the world.
PTI understands that our industry is a global one driven by international standards. This has made us in PTI to
pursue a rapid certification program by reputable international certification bodies such as NEBOSH, IOSHM
OPITO, IADC, IWCF, IMCA, IW etc to name but a few of such bodies.
“These our graduate trainees are leaving
here with certificates from both NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) and the International Institute of Management (LM Level 2).
“When we compare the cost of this training done here in PTI and that done outside the shores of Nigeria, we
would see that PTI has saved our dear nation Nigeria, huge sums of money running into millions of British
pounds and if converted into naira, hundreds of millions, if not billions.
It is on this note that, we wish to appeal to Nigeria LNG to kindly think of donating some equipment that would
be suitable for PTI to be able to carry out more of the technical trainings it requires. Equipment such as a min
LNG Plant for training for example. We are also appealing to other major players in the industry to assist P
acquiring the necessary tools and equipment as well as training more of our personnel to become certified
diverse areas of needs. The overall goal is to make PTI to become a certification hub in the African continent.”. He added.
On her part, Managing Director, PTI Consultancy Services Limited, Dr. Oriri Omorodion said, “Today marks a significant milestone in the human capital development for Nigerian Local Content for the Oil and Gas and Allied Industries.
“This journey started in 2021 with an enquiry by Nigeria LNG Limited as
to the readiness and capability of PTI to mount a specialized training for the company followed by visits
to inspect our facilities and several meetings.
“This culminated in the award to Petroleum Training Institute (PT)
a contract to train 48 Technician Trainees for twenty-five (25) weeks.
“We are proud to announce that at the end of the training today, our distinguished soon to be graduate trainees have achieved the following certifications,PTI Proficiency Certificate, NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Leadership and Team Skills, National Skills Qualification (NSQ). She stated.
Hossanna Jesse Jackson on behalf of the Technicians said, “It is an honuor to stand here today and deliver this speech to such an esteemed group of individuals.
“We want to thank the Principal & Chief Executive Management and Staff of the Petroleum Training Institute Effurun, Delta State and the distinguished Management and representatives of the Nigerian LNG Limited in attendance for this opportunity to share our thoughts which we believe reflects the collective contemplations of the entire 48 Trainees here seated we have successfully undergone the Technician training here in PTI Effurun.”
