ASABA, Delta State – One of Nigeria’s most dynamic and youth-focused radio stations, Trend 100.9 FM, recently marked its 6th anniversary with a powerful message: “Nigerian Youth, Tomorrow is Today.” The celebration, which formed part of the station’s annual lecture series, drew distinguished guests from government, civil society, academia, and the media, reflecting the station’s growing influence and national relevance.
In her welcome remarks, Agatha Amata, Managing Director Inside Out Media Limited owners of Trend fm and Rave Television, underscored the station’s unwavering commitment to delivering uninterrupted, high-quality programming tailored to inform, educate, and entertain. “We are very relevant in the lives of many, especially the youth and the young at heart. Our goal is not only to reflect the times but to shape them,” she said. “Beyond traditional broadcasting, Trend FM has embraced digital innovation by expanding onto social media and live streaming platforms, ensuring global access to our content through our mobile app and website.”
For six years, Trend 100.9 FM has served as a leading voice in Delta State and beyond, offering a unique blend of news, civic, cultural, and entertainment content. The station has consistently received top ratings from reputable media monitoring bodies, while offering a platform for local talent and community engagement through both on-air and off-air programs.
In a keynote lecture titled “Nigerian Youth: Tomorrow is Today – How Does Government Help?”, Charles Aniagwu, Hon. Commissioner for Information, Delta State, commended Trend FM for pioneering 24/7 quality broadcasting in the region. He highlighted the station’s role in promoting transparency and dialogue, noting that programs such as Trend Talk have become a vital tool for gauging public sentiment. “The Delta State Government uses insights from Trend FM’s civic-driven programming to shape responsive policies,” Aniagwu noted. “Through the voices captured on this platform, we remain connected to the hopes and concerns of our people.”
Also speaking at the event, Elder Moses Udoh Tom, Resident Electoral Commissioner (INEC, Delta State), praised the station’s role in stimulating youth political participation. He urged young Nigerians to become active in political processes, adding that Trend FM’s civic programs have helped spur youth interest in elections and governance.
The event also featured captivating performances, including a drama on leadership by students from Lawrence Prentice Academy and a moving orchestra by Infant Jesus Academy. On-air personalities such as Austine Okorodudu, Chicibel Nnadozie, Nnamdi Atupulazi, Chidiebere Ndukwe, Success the Wordsmith, and Kingsley Joseph were celebrated by listeners and fans alike for their creativity and connection with the public.
Dignitaries in attendance included top government functionaries, youth leaders, media professionals, civil society groups, educational stakeholders and listeners.
The Trend FM Annual Lecture Series has, over the years, featured nationally renowned speakers including Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin and Aisha Yesufu, cementing its place as a thought-leadership platform committed to civic education and youth development.
With a broadcast reach that spans over eight states – including Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia, with coverage extending into parts of Rivers and Kogi – Trend 100.9 FM continues to redefine radio broadcasting in Nigeria. The station boasts a listener base of over 5 million, both through terrestrial and digital platforms, and was recently awarded Radio Station of the Year at the 17th Niger Delta Awards.
