Tonye Anyanwu propels the TOWR App

Tonye Anyanwu has kicked off with the TOWR Portal. Towr is the mobile app platform that allows users to book towing services, vehicle transport and other automobile services as well.

Chatting with Dubai based Nigerian tech guru and entrepreneur Tonye Anyanwu, who is the Chief Technical Officer of TOWR Portal, he told us that the launch of the app was a journey that began about 2 years ago.

He said that creating or building anything is all about solving a problem, like they say “necessity is the mother of invention”. “We saw a problem and knew we had to present a solution. I love being able to infuse smart ideas into anything I am doing and with my background in tech and app development it was only natural that the TOWR app saw the light of day” he further explained.

The main aim of TOWR is to enable the app users and subscribers get towing services when they have a flat tyre or their car develops a fault in remote areas or even for scheduling car servicing and repair appointments.

Tonye explained that the app will eventually grow into also providing services like home car wash services, moving heavy vehicles, general car repairs, vehicle registration and testing. “The app basically links users and subscribers with service providers. Just like you can request an Uber ride we have made it easier for anyone in Dubai and around United Arab Emirates to book or request a variety of automobile services” Anyanwu said.

The towing market in the UAE is a highly inefficient industrial sector. The lack of a dedicated solution or digital platform that can help people transport their vehicles (in times of emergency or otherwise) is the gap that Towr
is striving to fill.

“If any innovation or idea is not solving a problem, then it’s totally useless”. I believe everyone can find a problem in their area or industry of expertise and find a way they can infuse technology into it and just like that, a million dollar or even a billion dollar idea is born. In addition to that, they have to know that the acquisition of more knowledge can NEVER end, I believe the moment you stop learning, you start dying” he reiterated.

“At TOWR Services, we realized that with the advent of smart devices and social media, over 70% of people make use of their smart devices for shopping online, ordering rides, watching movies, news and listening to music while on the go. The use of apps make all these activities easier than before, therefore we sort to exploit that platform to harness that market and so developed the TOWR app” he said.

He revealed that the app would have launched in 2019, but it had to go through the beta testing stage first to help smoothen out any kinks and also get feedback that will help improve the app. He however said it became fully operational by 2nd quarter of 2020 and there has been a significant increase in subscribers and users since then.

He said, all anyone needs is to download the app, create an account and sign in to access a variety of services from different companies. “We are hoping to expand to Nigeria and then other countries around Africa soon, so we can harness the largely untapped 1billion African market” Tonye said.
