Melissa ‘Mel G’ Gonzalez launches Fit Esteem Foundation

US-based fitness/wellness coach, singer, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Mel G has delved into charity with the setting up of The Fit Esteem Foundation, a non-profit organisation with the sole aim of engaging in life-changing events and charitable community services. The mission of the foundation, according to the Mel G is to enhance the standard of living of the less privileged, homeless, abused women and children in the community. “ I want to increase the efficiency of the foundation through advocacy, mentoring, creating access to basic necessities, and equal access to a resourceful, safe, and sustainable society.

For Me G, the drive to create The FIT ESTEEM Foundation has been something she has always wanted to do at some point but it came to fruition during the time when COVID-19 was raging hard, lockdowns enforced and people were ordered to stay safe in their homes.

‘’The FIT ESTEEM Foundation was birthed to provide shelter for the homeless, support and safe space for the abused & disenfranchised and reduce hopelessness in the community’’ the philanthropist said adding that the foundation is a project close to her heart especially being a child of immigrants and as a tribute to her mum who is a very charitable person.

‘’Growing up I remember my Mother helping strangers, serving hot meals to the homeless in the community and extending a helping hand whenever and however she could to those she believed needed support. She always wished she could do more especially for women and kids but had no means to fulfill that dream. So, I want to continue the work I saw her doing as a kid — reduce homelessness, educate and empower women/girls and possibly take folks off the street for good. Every homeless person has a story, We want to hear it and see what can be done to help the situation’’.

The Fit Esteem Foundation is a non-profit charity organization based in Los Angeles, California. Since inception the foundation has tackled social issues like online bullying, online trolling and child labour. She says they have also supported women/men who are victims of domestic abuse practices, providing safe spaces for them while encouraging them to speak up and speak out about these issues so others will know they are not alone.
