ENUGU—SENIOR Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on security and special projects and son of former governor of old Anambra state, Dr Josef Umunnakwe Onoh has deflated the suspicion in some quarters that the governor would defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, after 2019 elections.

Onoh also said that the issue of the APC not securing 25 percent votes during the presidential election was a compound fault  of the opposition party in the state and exonerated Governor Ugwuanyi on the APC tragedy of 25 percent in the state.

Onoh in an interview with Vanguard noted that Enugu State was a 100 percent PDP state with the people prepared for the governorship and state assembly elections next Saturday.

“We are guaranteed of victory because Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  is the face of PDP in Enugu State. The unique thing is that the masses in the rural areas are the ones that will come out enmasse to deliver Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi because he has fulfilled beyond his electoral promises. They will be voting for the person this time and not the party,” Onoh stated.

On the rumour that Ugwuanyi will defect to APC, Onoh said, “The Governor of Enugu State is not defecting to any APC. He is a man of integrity and has remained in the PDP. The only thing is that his style of governance is what people do not understand. He said it from the day he was sworn in that he is not governor for PDP alone.”
