PDP Candidates clear FCT polls

THE immediate past chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC),Micah Jiba, has been declared winner of the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the last Saturday’s House of Representatives election.

Announcing the result yesterday, the returning officer, Prof. Rebecca Wusa  Ndana, declared Micah Jiba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of election after he polled a total vote of 174,377.

According to Ndada,  the closest rival, the candidate of All Peoples Congress (APC) polled a total of 82,761 votes.

Also yesterday, the candidate of the PDP for the House of Representatives for Abuja south federal constituency, Alhaji Hassan Sokodabo, has been declared winner of last Saturday’s national assembly election.

Declaring the results yesterday at Kwali Town Hall amidst very tight security, the Chief returning officer in the election, Prof. Titus Idekwe,declared Sokodabo winner having scored 81, 023 votes to defeat the incumbent House of Representatives member, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 65, 123 votes.

According to Idekwe, “The candidate of the PDP, Hassan Sokodabo, is here by declared the winner of the Abuja south federal constituency of the House of Representative and he is hereby declared returned elected.”

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the results were announced, Alhaji Hassan Sokodabo, said that he dedicated his victory to the entire good people of Abuja south for the confidence they have in him to represent them in the 9th national assembly session.

Sokodabo also commended the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) and security agents for their efforts towards ensuring neutrality and seeing that the elections were peaceful.

Also yesterday, the Presidential Election Collation officer, Bwari Area Council, Prof. Kwaghkwando Agber, declared PDP as the winner of the presidential polls at the council.

Agber while declaring the result at Bwari said that PDP scored 52015 against APC’s 22115.

He said the total votes casted were 80593, valid votes 76323 while rejected votes were 4220.

In another development, Prof. Simon Malang Kawe, Senate and House of Reps Collation Officer for Bwari has also declared PDP as the winner in the polls.

According to him, at the House of Reps election PDP scored 52106 against APC’s 23282.

For the Senate, APC scored 22775 while PDP garnered 51797.

He said the total votes registered were 230, 269, accredited voters 84541, valid votes 77700, rejected votes 2697 and votes cast were 83937.
