Ado Ekiti- The All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate in Ekiti North district of Ekiti State, Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi, on Saturday expressed concern over the malfunctioning of the smart card readers, which according to him, has been slowing down the spate of voting in some units in his ward.

Addressing newsmen shortly after voting in his unit, Adewumbi said, the heavy crowd being witnessed in his ward 2 unit 003 at Ifaki Ekiti in Ido/Osi local government area of the state, was causing serious apprehension, because of the problem with the card reader.

The former National Assembly member added that most of the voters had waited for over two hours and still expecting to vote as a result of the situation.

“Though, INEC had brought another smart card reader which has started working but we pray it doesn’t malfunction again like we have been witnessing.

” You can see large crowd of voters still expecting to be accredited after waiting here since 8am.

” But apart from this, the process has been largely credible and peaceful, particularly the turnout was impressive. It has never been like this”, he said.

On his own, a former governor of the State, Chief Segun Oni , who voted at ward 2 Ori Olode polling unit at Ifaki Ekiti , praised the large turnout of voters.

Oni , who is a former APC Deputy Nation Chairman , described the process as very encouraging.

He commended INEC and voters for coming out early to commence the process of voting.

“We have not been getting any adverse report, even the card reader is working here perfectly in my unit”.

Also, the Director General of Buhari/Osinbajo campaign council in the state, Dr Olusegun Osinkolu, applauded INEC and voters for displaying patriotism.

Osinkolu said the credibility of the polls will be high if stakeholders could play by the rules of the game.

The Buhari’s campaign chief refuted the allegation that members of the PDP were being flogged allegedly by APC counterparts in Ado Ekiti metropolis
