Brethren , by the time you read this article we would have gone past mid- November, in other words we are moving closer to the end of the year.
The reality of the end of the year brings to our minds a lot of thoughts. Negative and Positive. Some are already thinking of how to meet the end of year financial obligations. That is, what do I show off in the village? What do I do to be noticed? Such thoughts could put one under serious pressure that could lead to health challenges.
Others are worried about how to meet the material needs of family members who would need to purchase new dresses, shoes, etc. Some parents also look beyond the festive season and are worried about how to pay the next school fees.
Some singles are so worried about going home again this year without anyone to present as a marriage partner.
So many things that we bother about do not really deserve the attention we give to such things.
We worry about these issues but must we really allow such pressure to rule our lives as Christians, I think we shouldn’t . Have we forgotten that Christmas celebration is at best a matter of 48 hours; two days?
If God has kept you and taken care of your needs for over 360 days why worry about 8 days of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
I’ll share with you the story of an old man in my neighborhood who was quite close to me.
The man called one of tenants to inform her that he needed money to celebrate the New Year. He said he needed money because he needed to slaughter rams to mark the New Year. According to him, he slaughters two rams. One for his immediate family and the other for his late mother For this purpose, he said he needed to travel to his town in Ogun state latest on the 31st of December that year.
He became so worried that his blood pressure shot up. One of his wives noticed it and he was rushed to the hospital. While on the hospital bed, he continued making contacts about how to raise money for the New Year celebration.
Unfortunately, he died. On the 31st that he wanted to travel to his village was the day he was buried in that same village. He indeed travelled but as a dead man . He went on a journey of no return.
So, what are you worried about ? Whatever we are passing through, this is not the time to wear mournful looks. It is not the time to reach the conclusion that God has failed us.
God does not fail and He will never fail you.
Brethren, I don’t know that issue that gives you sleepless night . Is it unemployment, health challenges, waiting on the Lord for children, a relationship that did not lead you to the altar, whatever it is , fear not.
Let’s look at the words of Moses, when he had become aged and weak yet the journey to Promised Land was still a long way to go. What did he tell the children of Israel and Joshua.
Deuteronomy 31 vs. 6 “ Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them,: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee , nor forsake thee”.
Are you a victim of a gang up? Your worries won’t produce solutions to the challenge. Worries have never and may never produce solutions to challenges of life. Therefore, cast worry out of your life. It can only deepen your pains or frustrations. What you do is to hold on to God with whom all things are possible.
Let’s also look at the reaction of the children of Israel after Moses gave them the 10 commandments .
Genesis 20 vs. 18-20 “ And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightenings, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die”.
Verse 20 “ And Moses said unto the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not”.
Why were the Israelites afraid? They knew that they were guilty of those sins . Hence they feared what the Lord could do to them but Moses assured them they that walk with God need not fear.
The story of Jacob also buttresses this point. At the time Jacob was to relocate to Egypt after Joseph had been confirmed alive, he still had fears.
Genesis 46 1-3 . Our emphasis is on verse 3 , which is a dialogue of God and Jacob. It states, “ And he said, I am God, the God of they father, fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will make of thee a great nation”.
You know the story. Israel indeed became a great nation in Egypt to the extent that the Egyptians became worried .
Brethren, this is not the time to worry about the challenges of life. It is the time to seek renewal of our spiritual life. The dead have no worries about delay in child bearing, marriage , finances, or health challenges. Appreciate God that has given you life. If he has given you life, it is for a purpose. Wait for that purpose to be fulfilled in your life.
Ecclesiastes 7 vs. 7 & 8 “ Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart. Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit”.
Did you get the message? Challenges can really bring our spirit low but our confidence in God who never fails should lift up our spirit.
By the grace of God, this year will end to your benefit.
Let me share with you a testimony.
A new married lady, got pregnant and the initial test confirmed her pregnant. After about 12 weeks, her doctor directed her to go for a scan. She did and the scan showed Fibroid. Indeed multiple fibroid. The scan was repeated thrice and the result was the same.
She knew something was wrong. She told her husband that she must return to her church; Laughter Foundation International Ministry. He husband objected but she had her way.
A few weeks after attending regularly, she went for a scan and a baby was found. She took the result to her regular doctor, who said, “ This must be a mistake. It isn’t your result”. He directed her to another diagnostic center. The result confirmed a baby. To shorten the story she went to about five other diagnostic centers and the result was a baby. It was only then that her doctor believed.
I pray for you today, every cloud that has covered your destiny, which has not allowed you to progress, the Lord will remove in Jesus name.
Had she not been spiritually sensitive, she would have gone for the surgery that her doctor suggested and the baby would have been killed.
Brethren, I have said it before and I repeat with all confidence that God is able to remove permanently any obstacle in our way in this journey of life.
The question is, are you walking with him? Have you a relationship with the Most High God? If you don’t , it is not too late to start a fellowship with Him.
With a relationship with God firmly in place, this year will definitely end to your benefit.
Do have a blessed week.
