AKURE—a suspected ritualist and kidnapper identified as Adetoyinbo, who disguised as a madman and was arrested in Akure, the Ondo State capital yesterday, chewed and swallowed the SIM cards of the two mobile phones found in his possession.

The suspect was arrested by neighbourhood vigilante at Orita-Obele Estate, in Akure, with two telephone sets in his pocket.

He claimed he came from Edo State for kidnapping, while pretending to be mad.

An eyewitness, Ganiyu Yusuf, said some charms and ritual substances were also found in the suspect’s pocket.

Yusuf told Vanguard that the timely intervention of policemen prevented the suspect from being set ablaze by youths.

Contacted, the state’s police imagemaker, Femi Joseph, said: “The accused was said to have chewed and swallowed the SIM cards of his phones.

“He is still in Police custody undergoing interrogations.”
