Another bridge has collapsed in Niger State. Consequently, commuters plying the Minna-Bida Road are stranded.

The collapse happened at Daku Sabon Gida village, about 16 kilometers from Minna -Bida.

The bridge collapse happened as a result of torrential rainfall across the state for the past five days which flooded most towns and villages and led to the bridge falling on Friday.

Most vehicles coming from Ilorin-Mokwa-Jebba axis and from Minna, unaware of the development, are now trapped at the spot.

While smaller vehicles were able to make a u-turn to take another route to their various destinations,  heavy-duty trucks, trailers and tankers have remained stranded.

Meanwhile, Federal Road Safety Commission, Niger State Command has called on   motorists to ply alternative routes   to avoid traffic hold-up and ensure free flow of vehicular movement.

In the last two years, three major bridges have collapsed along Ilorin-Mokwa-Jebba Road at Tatabu village and Bokani -Tegina road before the latest along Bida-Minna Road.
