Bauchi—The International Republican Institute, IRI, a non-governmental organisation, has said it will support political parties to organise citizen constituency outreaches ahead of the 2019 general election.
It said the aim is to develop party policies/manifestos development that will improve responsiveness and representation in all political processes.
This was part of the outcome of a three-day workshop organised by IRI in conjunction with United States Agency for International Development, USAID, on the theme Bauchi PDP Citizens Engagement and Communication Development, for political parties in the state.
The workshop, which held separately for political party leaders, ranging from women leaders, youth leaders and local government party leaders, was anchored by Sunday Alao, IRI Senior Programme Officer and State Coordinator, Amina Aliyu, respectively.
The Programme Officer said a committee responsible for drawing up policies of the political parties will be set up at the citizen constituency outreaches, adding that the NGO will support political parties with expertise, venues and other logistics.
