Bauchi—The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed August 11 for Bauchi South senatorial by-election.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who announced this yesterday during a stakeholders meeting at the INEC office in Bauchi, said the commission received a formal communication from the National Assembly on July 13, declaring a vacancy in the Bauchi South senatorial district by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

He said by the action of the Senate, based on Section 76 Subsection 2 and Section 25 Subsection 2 of the Electoral Act, INEC was mandated to conduct an election within 30 days after receiving the letter from National Assembly.
