I get N10,000 per kill, says 20-yr-old Eiye hitman

The startling revelation of a 20-year-old self-confessed hit lady of the Eiye confraternity, on how she killed four members of a rival cult group in Ilasamaja, Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos, sent shivers down the spines of policemen and journalists at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters yesterday.

The hit lady, Mariam Abiola, a Senior Secondary School 3 drop-out, was arrested yesterday morning, by policemen attached to Ilasamaja division led by the Divisional Police Officer, Titilayo Oriyomi, with two locally made revolver pistols, two live cartridges and nine pieces of 9mm live ammunition..

Three other suspected members of same confraternity, including the herbalist that prepared charms before they went for  any killing spree,  were also arrested earlier, in Mushin.

Abiola, who said she fled her parents’ home in Abeokuta, beamed with smile, saying she never felt any pang of regret after  snuffing life out of her targets.

According to the Ogun State born suspect, “I left my parents home in Lafenwa,  Abeokuta , for Lagos in search of work. I was staying with brother Wasiu ( one of the suspects). Later, brother Sadiq (suspect) said he would introduce me to a job that would fetch me money. He said I needed to blend into the system by being a member of Eiye. I agreed and was initiated into Eiye confraternity. Thereafter, brother Sadiq taught me how to use a gun. By the time I went through training three times, I knew how to fire a shot.

Then he told me that I would be going on killing mission for them. Anytime I was going to kill, brother Sadiq would give me the person’s picture and send the address to my phone. I usually wore white jalamia and white Hijab whenever I was going to kill and we went in a group  of four; Wasiu ,  Segun, me and …., I can’t remember the forth person’s name now. I usually tucked the gun inside the white jalamia, so that nobody would notice I was armed.

“On reaching   the target’s house, usually at night, other members would jump the fence and open the gate for me. They would lead me right into the target’s room, from where I would fire the person in the chest and forehead before leaving the place.

“At the end of each killing, Sadiq would pay me N10, 000 and give others N20,000. So far, I have killed four persons: two men and two women. I killed one at  Fabiyi street, others  at Hassan and Aje street, all in Ilasamaja. Before we leave for any killing, we usually visited the herbalist who would give us charms that would put residents to sleep until the operation was concluded. I never felt bad killing anybody.”

However when Sadiq was approached, he admitted being a member of Eiye confraternity but  denied knowing Abiola.

A mild drama unfolded when Sadiq asked Abiola what the meaning of Eiye was.

He said: “We don’t admit women into our fold. Since she claimed to be a member, ask her what Eiye means”.

In response, the hit lady said “they did not tell me what it means”.

Another member, Emeka Ihioma (25)  who she claimed she knew as one of the members, also denied knowing her.
