Akure—ABDUCTORS of the former council chairman in Ondo State, Dele Fagoriola, have requested for N10 million ransom before his release.

Vanguard learned that the victim’s family members are negotiating downwards to N1 million, which the kidnappers rejected.

Kidnap

Fagoriola, who is kidnapped by seven masked gunmen on Saturday in his farm, was the former chairman of Akure North Local Government in Ondo State (2004-2007).

The ex-council boss was reportedly trailed to his farm, located in the boundaries between Ondo/ Ekiti states along Akure-Ikere Ekiti Road by his abductors.

Wife of the victim Adeola Fagoriola, said the kidnappers had opened discussions with the family members.

Adeola said in Akure that they were contacted through phone and a demand of N10 million made, corroborated by the victim’s elder brother, Busuyi.

But police image maker, Femi Joseph, said the command is not aware of ransom, adding that “Police will not be part of ransom payment to criminals.”
