F5WC: Nigeria holds qualification matches in July

Football Fives World Championship franchise holders in Nigeria, are set to organise the qualification matches for the 2018 edition of the world five-a-side football fiesta billed for September in Shanghai, China.

According to Shamsudeen Yusuf Tijani who is head of competitions for F5WC in Nigeria, the qualification tournaments will begin on July 2  in Kano, before moving to other States with the final to be staged in Lagos.

“The winners apart from the N1.5m prize at stake, will earn the right the to represent Nigeria at the F5WC in Shanghai, China.

“In the last championship in Dubai the Nigerian team I would say had an impressive outing even thought they couldn’t come out of the group stages. But in 2018 we are hoping that a good team will emerge and we implore the Nigerian Football Federation to provide us with coaches,” Mr. Yusuf stated.

Also speaking was Boma Jacks of I-sports Coliseum. He said that the tournament is strictly for amateur  footballers, adding that modalities have been put in place to ensure a smooth competition with the aim of bring out the best of five-a-side football in Nigeria.

The F5WC was founded in 2013 specifically for for amateur footballer from the age of 16 and above from all over the world. It was gather that arrangements are being made to include women players as from next year.
