A socio-cultural group, Ekiti descendants in Ondo State, has declared its support for the Mega Party of Nigeria, MPN, for the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Chairman of the group, Comrade Dare Adebayo, who assured MPN of the group’s support, said Ekiti indigenes in Ondo State had obtained their voters card and are planning to come home enmass to vote for the party to enable it win the poll.

Adebayo, who spoke while receiving the MPN Ekiti State Executive members led by the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Daramola Ajayi, in Akure, charged the party to step up in selling its programmes to the electorate, saying the onus to rescue the people of the state from the present economic situation to better the lot of innocent citizens lies in MPN.

He charged MPN to take the bull by the horn and ensure the party leadership and members left no stone unturned in ensuring that they dethrone the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

The group’s leader, who condemned past governments in the state for failing the people, however, cautioned MPN leadership against disappointing the people if voted in.

According to him, the MPN government would give priority attention to moribund industries, payment of workers’ salaries, as well assistance to farmers and market women.

Responding, MPN Deputy State Chairman, Ajayi Daramola assured members of the Ekiti descendants’ group that the party would adhere strictly to the dictate of the party’s constitution.

Daramola, who assured that the only alternative to better the lots of innocent citizen in the state was the MPN, explained that the party was being handled by capable hands where collective responsibility of the EXCO has undoubtedly added value in making the party to be reckoned with in Ekiti State.

Daramola said: “MPN has the programmes to move the state forward with its focus on delivering development through good governance, hence our appeal to all Ekiti people to vote en-mass for the party come July 14.”

The Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Rev. Moses Ajagunigbala, said the party has competent aspirants that would use their wealth of experience to put Ekiti State in the right path and urged them to cast their votes for the party during the governorship election.
