Faith, works necessary for solution to Nigeria’s challenges, says Umo

ABUJA – The General Overseer of Victory Palace Int’l Ministries, Revd Uko Umo, has admonished Nigerians to put their faith in God to see the country through its present security challenges.

Umo made this call while speaking to Christian faithful at the Church’s auditorium in Abuja on Sunday.

He said that faith, as captured in Nigeria’s coat-of-arms, remained a key necessity for solution to the myriad of security problems rocking major sectors of the nation.

According to him, Nigerians should also go out of their ways to add work to their faith by acquiring their Permanent Voters Cards’ and voting out incompetent political leaders in next year’s general elections.

“We need to put our faith in God to see us through these challenging times in our nation’s history.

“Today, Nigeria is divided more than ever before. The security situation in the country is at its lowest ebb. But, we need to trust God to see us through.

“However, we must add works to our faith for the betterment of Nigeria.

“We must acquire our PVCs and be prepared to vote our bad leaders in 2019. Our governments have been incompetent in ways too numerous to mention. But with a combination of our faiths and works, God will see us through,’’ he said.

The cleric also condemned the call by British Prime Minister, Theresa May, for the law criminalizing same-sex marriage in Nigeria and other Commonwealth nations to be repealed; saying May’s advice had the potential of attracting divine curses to the country as in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.

“We don’t need to legalise same-sex marriage in Nigeria. Homosexuality was what destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

“The divine institution of marriage is between members of the opposite sex. Those advocating for same sex marriage are devil’s incarnates,” he added.
