Easter message-A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Cogress in Ekiti State, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has urged the Christians to use the Easter time to pray against bloodshed during the July 14 governorship election.
Bamidele, in his Easter message to Christians signed by his Media Assistant, Ahmed Salami, said the election is very crucial to the survival of Ekiti State and its progress and prosperity, saying the people of the state must pray fervently against anything that could tinker with the relative peace and stability being enjoyed by the populace.
The former federal parliamentarian added that acts of violence could cause public unrest and thwart the efforts being put in place to ignite development in Ekiti in all spheres, which he said makes prayers to be appropriate and apt in this circumstance.
Charging Christians to live peacefully with Muslims to promote religious tolerance in Nigeria, the APC chieftain, said this should be embraced in alignment with the supreme price paid by Jesus Christ, which typified love, sacrifice and oneness in spirit and creation.
Bamidele urged Christians to always work in tandem with the doctrine of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross, which bordered on sacrifice and forgiveness, saying with this Nigeria will become a great nation everybody can be proud of.
“Jesus Christ died for us so that our sins could be forgiven. I want Nigerians to learn how to forgive to entrench stability in our nation. The more reason why we are experiencing political turmoil had been that we lack that spirit of forgiveness.
“If someone imbibes the spirit of sacrifice, he won’t embezzle public funds for personal gains, he won’t kill for position or in the name of religion, neither would he preach hate, spark up ethnicity to gain upper hands not do those things that can create cleavages among his people as a leader.
“I want to use this opportunity to felicitate with Christians as they celebrate the death of Jesus Christ and I pray that the good Lord will grant us peace to be able to celebrate more of it”, he prayed
